Where a spreadsheet falls short
- Foreign-currency costs need converting by hand before you add them.
- It shows balances, not the fewest transfers to settle them.
- Everyone has to send their costs to one person to type in.
In Traxpend, everyone adds expenses from their own phone, budgets warn you at 80%, recurring bills log themselves, and settle-up shows the fewest payments with a UPI QR or a PayPal or Venmo link. Free for up to five people. Traxpend for group trips.
Questions
How do I settle up with the fewest payments?
Copy each person’s total paid into our free trip expense calculator. It works out the minimum number of transfers, so four friends rarely need more than three payments.
Does it work in Google Sheets?
Download the file, open Google Sheets, choose File → Import → Upload, pick the file and select “Create new spreadsheet”. The formulas carry over.
What if someone skipped an activity?
Either change their share on the Balances sheet for the whole trip, or keep that activity in a separate copy of the sheet with only the people who joined.
Can it handle different currencies?
Convert each cost to one currency before adding it. Traxpend can do this automatically across 40+ currencies.
