What’s the fairest way to split rent?
Most flatmates split the shared spaces (kitchen, living room) equally and the bedrooms by size. This calculator does exactly that: choose how much of the rent covers shared space, and the rest follows room size, with a small premium for a private bathroom or balcony.
How big should the premium for a private bathroom be?
There’s no universal rule. This tool treats a private bathroom as 15% more room and a balcony as 8% more — adjust the shared-space slider until everyone agrees it feels fair.
Does it work for utilities too?
