What’s inside

Expenses sheet: One row per expense: date, description, category, who paid and the amount.
Budget sheet: A monthly budget per category. Spent, Left and % used fill in by themselves.
Who paid sheet: Each earner’s share of household costs, what they actually paid, and the balance between you.

Where a spreadsheet falls short

Only one person can comfortably edit it at a time, usually on a laptop.
Nobody gets a warning when a category is about to run out.
Recurring bills like rent and school fees have to be typed again every month.

Is this family budget template free?

Yes. Download it, change it and share it with your family. No sign-up and no email needed.

Does it work in Google Sheets?

Download the file, open Google Sheets, choose File → Import → Upload, pick the file and select “Create new spreadsheet”. The formulas carry over.

Which currency does it use?

Any. Type plain numbers in your own currency, whether rupees, dollars, euros or pounds. The template has no currency symbols.

Can I track several months?

Make a copy of the file each month, or add a Month column to the Expenses sheet and filter by it.
