Each partner’s monthly take-home pay. Each share is worked out for you, for example 60/40.

### Expenses

Shared bills and who paid them: rent, groceries, utilities, nights out.

### Split

Each partner’s fair share by income, what they paid, and the balance between you.

## Limits

- Personal and shared spending end up mixed in one file.
- Both of you need to keep it up to date, which rarely lasts.
- There is no shared budget or alert before you overspend.

## FAQ

### Is splitting bills by income fairer than 50/50?

It depends on what you agree. With a 50/50 split, the lower earner spends a bigger part of their pay on the same home. An income-based split keeps each partner’s share of pay the same.

### Does it work in Google Sheets?

Download the file, open Google Sheets, choose File → Import → Upload, pick the file and select “Create new spreadsheet”. The formulas carry over.

### Should I use gross or take-home income?

Most couples use take-home pay, because that is the money actually available for bills.

### Can we keep personal spending separate?

Yes. Only log shared bills in this sheet. Personal spending stays out of it.
