# What is Traxpend?

Traxpend keeps track of shared money for couples, families, flatmates and trip groups. Everyone in a **space** adds what they spend, sees the same numbers, and at the end of the month Traxpend works out who owes whom — in the fewest payments possible.

## The four ideas

1. **A space**: Your household, flat or trip. It has a name, a base currency and its members. Spaces are invite-only.
2. **Expenses**: Anyone in the space adds what they paid for — typed, spoken or scanned from a receipt.
3. **Fair shares**: Each member has a contribution share (for example 50/50, or by income). Their fair share of the month is that percentage of the total.
4. **Settle up**: Traxpend compares what each person paid with their fair share, then suggests the fewest transfers that clear every balance.
