# Quick add: type it like a text

The quick-add bar sits at the top of your dashboard. Type a short phrase with an amount and press Enter — the expense is added without opening a form.

## What it understands

- `fuel 800` → 800 in Transport
- `groceries 2.4k` → 2,400 in Groceries — “k” means thousand
- `netflix 649` → 649 in Entertainment

## How it works

- **On the free plan**, a fast built-in reader finds the amount and matches the words to one of your space’s categories. It works instantly and never leaves Traxpend’s own servers.
- **On Pro**, the same AI that powers [voice entry](https://www.traxpend.com/docs/voice-entry) reads your phrase — so it also understands who paid, dates like “yesterday”, and other languages.

> **Tip:** Always include a number. If Traxpend can’t find an amount, it asks you to try something like “Fuel 800”.

## Pro shortcuts & multi-word queries

- `uber 350 yesterday` — automatically sets the date to yesterday.
- `dinner 1800 paid by Priya` — assigns Priya as the paying member on Pro plans.
- `wifi 999 monthly` — sets up a recurring monthly expense in one command.

If you ever make a typo during quick add, you can immediately click the undo toast or edit the logged transaction from your recent activity list.
