# Create your account and space

> Sign up with Google or email, name your space and pick its currency — about two minutes.

1. **Start sign-up**: Go to [Create an account](https://www.traxpend.com/register). Use **Sign up with Google** for the quickest route, or continue with email.
2. **Name your space**: Choose `Create a space` and give it a name — “The Shahs”, “Flat 4B” or “Goa trip”.
3. **Pick country & currency**: This sets the space’s base currency. Every expense is stored in it; members can still view amounts in their own currency.
4. **Tell us about you**: Your first name (and optionally last name and phone). With email sign-up you’ll also set a password of at least 8 characters.

> **Joining someone else’s space?:** Open the invite link you were sent, or choose `Join with a code` on the sign-up screen and enter the 8-character code.

## Referral codes

If a friend shared a referral code, enter it on the first step of sign-up to receive the welcome credit shown on that screen.

> **Admin:** Whoever creates a space becomes its first **admin**. Admins can invite and remove members, set contribution shares and close the month.
